About me
My passion for color analysis arose because I myself always struggled with dressing well and finding the right colors. After my own analysis a few years ago in Seoul, it turned out that I was doing everything wrong. Through this process, I know how valuable this information is.
Hi, I am Amy
My name is Amy and I am Personal color consultant, trained in Western, Japanese, and Korean color analysis. My journey began a few years ago, when I delved deeper and deeper into color analysis and image consulting. Eventually I traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to pursue my training as a Personal Color Consultant. Later, I took additional courses in the Japanese and Western methods and flew to Seoul again for an Image Consulting course.
My background is not directly in the creative world. I have a HBO diploma in Human Resource Management and worked for large international companies after my studies. I soon realized that this was not where my passion lay. It didn't feel like something I wanted to keep doing for the rest of my life.
My journey from make-up artist to color analysis consultant
Makeup, on the other hand, has always been a major hobby of mine. I grew up during a time when beauty content on YouTube was becoming increasingly popular, and for me, makeup was primarily a form of creativity and interest. Therefore, while working a full-time job, I decided to take a makeup course. I worked during the day, went to school on weekends, and practiced and worked on assignments in the evenings. Even during this course, I got to do some great jobs. When I later took the Advanced course, I decided to make this my full-time profession.
During my career as a make-up artist I have had the opportunity to work on various assignments in the Netherlands and Belgium, including for clothing brands and television. However, I noticed that I was not deriving the satisfaction from this, that I had hoped for.
My own struggle played a major role in this. I always felt like I couldn't dress well and, as a result, almost always wore black. I made a lot of bad purchases and followed trends in the hope that something would finally look good on me. Because of this, clothing felt more like a source of frustration than something I enjoyed.
That is how I ended up with color analysis for myself. Due to my interest in Korean skincare and makeup. My Instagram algorithm consisted largely of this type of content. I saw color analyses popping up more and more often, and I thought: how useful it is to know exactly which colors suit you? For me personally, color analysis has changed a tremendous amount. I also noticed around me that many people felt a need for this knowledge.
Color analysis for for everyone
What I find so beautiful about the Korean method is that it looks at you as a whole, not at a box. I have a mixed background myself, and in Western analyses, I was often placed in a category that didn't fit. So, I know from personal experience how important it is for an analysis to look beyond a standard. Everyone is welcome in my salon and receives the same accurate advice, regardless of skin color or background.
I was a guest at Omroep Flevoland
My story did not go unnoticed. Omroep Flevoland invited me to the studio to talk about my work and about why color is so much more than a matter of taste.
During the conversation, I explain how a good outfit depends on more than just your eyes, hair, and skin, and how I help people discover that for themselves from my salon in Almere.
