What is value (color depth)?
During my consultations and on social media, you will often hear me talk about value and chroma. These are two very important factors, but unfortunately, we often know very little about them. When we talk about value, we are referring to how light or dark a hue (color) is. The highest value is white, and the lowest value is black.
So, if you see more white in a certain hue, the value is higher, meaning the color is light. If you see more black in a certain hue, the value is lower, meaning the color is deeper. Some people are sensitive to value. This often means that, for example, they can only wear medium color shades, or that they can wear light to medium color depths or medium to deeper color shades.
